In chapter 1 ,the author talked about the importance of assessment and its have been described as “the heart of the student experience“.Online learning is an improved version of distance learning, and the issue of space and time as a mode and medium of learning is not only definitional, but also philosophical and ultimately educational.Base on this week’s reading, I thought Online learning is a way to change traditional assessment strategies. And provide a new, less stressful platform for students.

As stated in the article, assessment is a core component of pedagogy that properly integrated into the learning cycle and is a pedagogical method that responds to the learning process. At the same time, assessment or feedback, can be an important part of influencing the future direction of learning and the potential for student development. Good feedback can clarify good performance for students and encourage their own reflection and assessment, and positive interactions around learning in the classroom and among peers can serve to encourage and narrow down current performance from expectations and for people to create an educational experience out of it.

Authentic assessment comes from constructivist and social constructivist theories. In last week’s explanation of learning theory, it was mentioned that learners are encouraged to construct their own understandings and to validate these new perspectives through social negotiation with no pre-established content or many relevant sources. But some of the courses that I have taken, such as math, biology these courses,, the learning process is based on relevant terms or concepts that usually do not need to be constructed and too much personal ideas.Contrasting the characterization of the constructivist perspective, the focus between teacher-student roles and the curriculum is on facilitating collaboration with others, the convergence of multiple perspectives and ultimately, the arrival at a self-selected position to which one can commit.

I think you understood this week’s article very well, as in fact assessment can be both subjective and rational, and as you said some subjects do not require these, but active participation and participation from teachers and classmates Discussion is always useful.

    Hello,
You have brought to light a number of important facets of online learning and evaluation in your study on Chapter 1. The phrase “the heart of the student experience” effectively highlights the crucial role that evaluation plays in education. In fact, online learning adds a new level of flexibility to traditional evaluation techniques, easing students’ transition from classroom to home by removing time and location barriers.
As mentioned, it is essential to incorporate assessment into the learning cycle. In addition to guiding students, good feedback promotes peer interaction and self-reflection, building a strong learning community. Constructivist and social constructivist theories, which support students in creating their own understanding through social interactions and negotiation, are in line with this. Nonetheless, it’s an excellent observation that constructivist theories can be applied to fields like biology and math. These fields frequently use well-established terminology and concepts, which may not necessarily be compatible with constructivist methods. The difficulty is striking a balance between the requirement for fundamental knowledge and the chance for students to participate in group projects and expand their perspectives.
Furthermore, your ideas about the relationship between the curriculum and the roles of teachers and students show how educational practices are always changing. In order to create an educational experience that is both relevant and engaging, it is imperative to encourage teamwork and accept a range of opinions. A comprehensive knowledge of the promise and complexities of online learning and evaluation is offered by your reflections.
